Install Issues - vars.inc.php related

I use snippetmaster on several sites and it has always worked great... in this case a client is using Network Solutions to host their site. At first the install wouldn't work since their shared environment doesn't support zend or ioncube, so the client upgraded to a VPS at Network Solutions suggestions.

now

- autoinstaller fails because newly set up netsol VPS are restricted and can't make outgoing connections, such as to www.snippetmaster.com server
- manual install fails
       files are transferred succesfully
       ioncube loader test reports success
       install process generates a blank page on install2.php but creates a database setup in the snippet-db folder
       error log says the following

the server is linux / apache / php

i saw several similar posts but never a solution, although in one post Admin (Henri) says it looked like a path problem which a manual install with a file tweak would solve, the original poster then says thanks, as if Henri was able to fix it, but the fix wasn't provided.

any help would be appreciated.

Wow. It sounds like network solutions might have a very screwy server setup.    For a good host recommendation, let me know.  (You can also get free Snippetmaster licenses...)

Ok.. can you request a free installation, and I'll do my best to get this working?  I'm not sure what might be the problem.  here's the link:

I was going to take you up on the offer, but i tried again this morning with the autoinstaller and it worked flawlessly. It appears that newly set up VPS at network solutions have a lot of restrictions in place for about 24 hours which caused my troubles with snippetmaster and a form-2-mail script as well.
