When I change footer-original.html file to footer.html
and then edit the footer online in SnippetMaster, I get error:
Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING .../snippetmaster/templates/footer.html on line 1
I then have to completely reinstall SnippetMaster to clear this up
Also, when I change header-orginal.html to header.html and open it in SnippetMaster to edit program name in upper right of header,
there's nothing to edit!
So I downloaded files in Dreamweaver, made copies of footer, header and styles files, deleted -original from title of all 3 files, and edited SnippetMaster in footer and header, then uploaded and deleted -original files from server.
Now I get this mess when I click on home button:

Hello,
From what I can understand.. you are trying to rebrand the software?
You can find instructions here:
http://www.snippetmaster.com/documentation/templates.html
If you're having difficulty editing the header and footer files, then I recommend making one small change at a time.. then test.. then change one small additional item.. then test.. etc...
Let me know.

Oh I've managed to change branding, but format is now messed up with lots of white space.
Look at URL in previous post and you'll see what I mean.
I only removed "Snippetmaster" and it's a href link.
and PHP for version and copyright.

If you only changed the snippetmaster text and version/copyright text, then the whitespace should not change..
In other words, if you do nothing but remove the -original part of the file, save and test... does it work? (Don't change any of the file contents.)
Then change *nothing* except the word "snippetmaster" to something else... test.. does it work ok?
Then change something else, small, and test...
The idea is to find out what part of your changes is messing up the formatting.
I have many customers who rebrand the header/footer files with no problem, so I know it does work.

Best way is to edit the header/footer using a good text editor. I use NoteTab Pro for this. This editor makes a backup file for each step so taking the edit one step at a time allows you to check formatting etc as you go along.
