[-] changing the name/ the place fo the html files in the ftp
« on: September 12, 2007, 02:34:07 AM »

My question might be a little complicated but i will try to be as clear as possible...

We have made a new web site for a company that already has one. The old site is now on line, and the new site will be out off line, but uploaded on the ftp inside of a folder with a temporary name, until next week. The question is, can we install SnippetMaster in the new site that is off line and afterwards move it out the folder? Then we just should change the path names, isnīt it? I am not sure how this should be done...

Hope it was clear enough  Confused

thanks in advance for your answer

Hello,

You can install Snippetmaster on the offline location, but here's a few things to consider:

1. If you are using the PRO version, then you will need to download the "offline license key" from the license management system, and then put the key into the /snippetmaster/ folder.  This is so the software will work without having to contact the license server to authenticate the license.

If you are using the free LITE version, then there is no license issues.. since the software is free.  Smile

2. When you move the installation to the eventual "live" location.. you will need to manually update any file paths that are stored in the database files.  Otherwise, they will have the old file path info and that will mess things up.

The best solution is to reinstall in the new live area once it is known..

I hope that makes sense.
