Should the snippet attribute say lastavedby is entered just like that, or with lastsavedby="" with the empty string as the value?  Same thing for lastsaveddt entry.

Also, if the snippet attribute is entered incorrectly, does it make the snippet ineffective for SnippetMaster accessing that particular snippet?

David you do not put the lastsavedby attribute into the Snippet tag - it is placed there by the editor when the snippet is edited and saved. If an attribute is incorrectly entered it will be ignored - at least it has when I have made typos!

It seemed to me that this tag prevented the Snippet tag from working, at least in one instance.  I would say that the documentation you cite should say not to put the lastsavedby or lastsaveddt into the Snippet tag.  When writing program documentation, I have never seen an instance where being very specific was the wrong thing to say.  If there is a mistake for the user to make, some user will find a way and do it.  (I just did.)

So that I am following you, if I place a Snippet tag in a file, and come along as a regular, normal user and change the text in that snippet, the SnippetMaster will place who saved the change, and when, in the Snippet tag for me to read, if I go look with Dreamweaver, or other software, or the hosting company control panel.

This is exactly how it works. The "lasteditedby" tag is automatically inserted into the Snippet, after you edit the file with snippetmaster.  It's how you can tell when and who made the last changes, etc...

You can view the tag with any text editor by "viewing source" for the page being edited... and Snippetmaster will also show the last edit time and user during editing. I'll also be adding some auditing functionality eventually, so you can see a history of edits for any file...

Right now, I am far more interested in learning the SnippetMaster software than in future improvements.  I am suggesting improvements in the documentation as I learn, so future users will have an easier time.  It is to the benefit of all users of the software to have it succeed in the marketplace.

It does say that fpr each of those tags:

Usage:

Not applicable. This tag is set automatically by the program.

Perhaps the sentence "Here is the full list of all attributes you can use, including usage instructions." could be amended slightly.
