I cannot find an answer to this but what do I ask this Livingdot.com webhost that my client wanted to use for her website when I change the file permission to 666 to make the files writable so that snippetmaster will work, it gives a 500 error when viewing the website? I haven't had this problem in years with a web server when installing snippetmaster. The program installed just fine and I could view the page fine in Snippetmaster to edit it and it appeared to save fine.

On the servers I use (United Hosting) if I set directory or file permissions too high then the system stops working with a 500 error. I use nothing higher than 755 for directories and 644 for files and have no problems with SnippetMaster. So maybe it is doing this for a 666 - writable by all is not a good option, and in my experience, is only required on less well configured servers.

Well, that is interesting. On my other server I have to change the write permissions because at 644 I get a message in snippetmaster in the editor that the file is not writeable. I just logged into this snippetmaster installation and was able to change the file just fine at 644. I am hoping that I will be able to upload into a directory when I put the license in for the pro version but it was not making any sense to me anyway because I have a shopping cart on this site and was not having any problems with updating products, etc. Thanks for the answer as I would not have moved forward with this project thinking it wouldn't work at 644!
