Problem with installation - Part 2 - can't write in the db.inc.php

Hi There.
It's my first post. 

I had to resort to manual install after a few failed tries of the auto install.

However, the first screen of the install wizard when I click continue after the screen shows shows the path to the snippet-db folder I receive the error: A PROBLEM WAS FOUND!
The following error(s) must be fixed before you can continue:
    * I was not able to write critical information to the db.inc.php file. You must be sure to enable write permissions for the file.

I set up the permission to 777, and it still shows the same error.

Can anybody help?

Hello,

There is a test file in the /includes/diag/ folder called "file-read-write-test.php" that you can use to try to see what is the problem.

Open the file for editing, and look for this line at the top:

$filename = 'd:\\home\\localuser\\okemahalumni\\snippetmaster\\db.inc.php';

Now put the full file path to your db.inc.php file into this variable, save the file, upload to your website, and then run it in your browser.

I tried several different forms of the path - to no avail.  I was constantly receiving the result: no input file specified.

What is the next step I can do? to get you more information.
