[-] Include Files Have HTML Tags and Begin Snippet Area Has Body BG Color
« on: June 10, 2009, 07:25:31 PM »

I prefer to use include files to call areas of body text.  After reading about SnippetMaster I concluded that may be a way to offer a simple CMS to clients without the DB setup and all.  And it is perfect.  But...

When I edit the include file, either for example body.php or body.inc and call with a php include.  The new page has HTML tages, starting with the <?xml version, html, body and end tags.

I have not been able to locate anywhere where a page can be edited and not force these tags.

As an end run, I decided to try the <!-- #BeginSnippet approach.  But in the ccs files, the background is set to a dark hex #333333, so when I bring up that snippet to edit, the WYSIWYG box is that dark color.

Can't seem to find any way around that one either.

Thank you in advance for any help or suggestions.
Mike

Hello,

Yes, if you edit using the "WHOLE FILE" method, then the editor will automatically add any "missing" html tags... this is because the editor tries to produce xhtml compliant code.. and so it adds any tags that are missing.

As you found, the solution is to use the Snippet Tag method of editing the files.

http://www.snippetmaster.com/documentation/snippet-tags-basic-config.html

This way, the editor recognizes that only a portion of your pages HTML code is loaded into the editor, and so it will not try and add all the missing html tags, etc..

With regard to the background color issue.. the next version of Snippetmaster will include the ability to dynamically change the background color of the editor while you edit.. but for now the only solution is to do it like this:

Thanks so much.  The program is great, works well.  As most text editors I've use in my php programming, it has limitations, but your app is minimal at the most.

One other question as I get to know the app.  BTW, I do spend time searching and reading before I start taking up time and space on help forums, so again, thanks for your prompt reply.

I find the image upload function a bit cumbersome.  Testing SnippetMaster Lite, I figure I will need to write a small app to let my client/user upload images to the server.  The upload refresh page would echo the actual image URL so the user can now copy and past into the image upload.

Does the SnippetMaster Pro or Licensed have an image upload, (browse and post) function?

Thanks

Hello,

Yes, you can upload with SnippetMaster PRO.  You can create "upload groups", each with their own set of destination folders.

So when the client needs to upload, he clicks the "upload" button, selects the desired upload destination, and clicks go.

Then he can insert the image by clicking the "insert/modify image" button in the editor, browse to the folder where the uploaded file is located, select it, and click go.
