ok, lets see if I can explain this correctly.

• my sites main folder looks something like this:
• Root Folder
• • index.php
  • otherfile.php
  • anotherfile.php
  • morefiles.php . . .
  • folder#1
  • • file#1.php
  • folder#2
  • • file#2.php
  • folder#3
  • • file#3.php
  • folder#4
  • • file#4.php

Lets say I need a user to be able to edit folders # 2 & 3 and nothing else
if I make their user start in the Root folder
and their List Group to Include folders # 2 & 3
then they can see all files in the Root folder 
if I make their user start in the Root folder/folder#2
then they can not get to folder#3

How can I solve this ?

The best solution in this case is to use the Snippet Tag system and specify what users can and can't edit every snippet.

Then, don't bother with the List Groups at all.

And make sure the users only have "Regular" privileges.

This way, the user will be able to navigate into all folders, but they won't be able to "see" any WHOLE FILES to edit (Regular user permission doesn't allow this), and they will only see and choose to edit the Snippets where they are on the Access Control List.

I hope that makes sense.

I think that's the easiest method.
