I searched the forum and don't really know what to do. I'm trying to save my edits. It's just not updating my page. It was at first. I copy an pasted the demo page text and graphics into my page, and it worked. But when I go to edit it - my page turns up blank, not saving it.
I checked permissions and changed them to 777 on the page I'm using for the snippetmaster feed.
Thanks, Pat

Hello,
Ok.. just to confirm. It was working, but now it is not?
Maybe try asking your web host what they changed....

Should the page be .html or .php because your demo page is .html.
I don't think my web host changed anything, but I actually have a programmer working on some other parts of the site for a custom catalog - I'll check with her.

This is the message I get when I try to save it:
SnippetMaster v1.2.5 : SCRIPT ERROR
SnippetMaster was unable to continue due to the following error:
There was an error opening /home/stubbies/public_html/catalog/news/demo.html
Please check permissions for that directory and file, so that they have necessary read and write permissions.
FUNC: saveText()
Where do I need to change the permissions? Shouldn't it be the news directory? I have it on 777 - is that right?
Thanks, Pat

You will need to give each file that you wish to edit with SnippetMaster write permissions.
/home/stubbies/public_html/catalog/news/demo.html
that's the file you need to chmod 777.

HI, I guess I didn't chmod the individual files. It appears to be working here now:
http://galahad.rtsdns.net/~stubbies/catalog/news/news.php
Question, I went back to the admin panel to edit "news.php" page and the drop down of file list only gave me "demo.html" and didn't show the "news.php" in that list, so I didn't see how I could edit it.

Only the files that have valid snippet tags will be displayed.
If your news.php file has invalid snippet tags, or if there's a problem with the tags, then the file will not be listed in the dropdown list.
Be sure there are matching open and close snippet tags, etc...

My current page news.php does have valid snippet tags. That is why it orginally showed up under the drop down list and I was able to add the text text to it.
It's when I went back to edit that it didn't display that page any longer in the drop down list to edit, on the demo.html.
I took a look at your demo.html page, to see what I might be doing wrong, but it looks ok. The only thing I saw different was the doc type at the top of the page. Your doc type is:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 4.0//EN">
should I put that on my news.php page? And should I use .php or.html?
Thanks, Pat

I looked a little closer at the file and found the indeed the closing tag was no longer there. So I added the closer file and the doc type you had at the top of the demo page, and I was able to edit. Now the drop down is displaying the page in which I can edit.
So all is well.
Thanks for your help.

I figured it was the snippet tags.
The first "doc" line isn't needed.. that's just to make the html standards compliant.
Let me know if you get stuck with anything else and I'll do my best.
Cheers!
