There was some talk a while ago about the functionality to create new pages using SnippetMaster - is that any closer to being added?

Yes, and no.  The feature is almost fully added to Snippetmaster, but I'm working still on figuring out how to deal with the permissions issue.  (ie: What users have permission to add new files, etc..

I would be quite happy with a "save page as", I suppose this leaves you with the same or a similar problem. Perhaps you could release an optional version with this option enabled or not. The onus would then be on the client.
