[-] Pictures Again
« on: September 17, 2007, 02:31:54 PM »

Lately, when I move my feature page to my archive section, the pictures disappear, ie. box with little red x. This is not an issue with the rest of the site-only the archive section. For July 2007, I just removed the pictures and the same thing is happening to the August 2007 page. I can try to remove the pictures on that page but I need to solve this problem so that I can diplay photos on the archive page. I've read the other messages on this board about the pictures (including making sure the pics are in the public folder, etc.) but they don't seem to be causing the issue for my page.

So far, no one I asked about this has helped. Can anybody on here help me?  Sad

Thanks,
Janelle

Hello,

I'm not sure I understand the problem.  What do you mean by "I move my feature page to my archive section"?

There are four pages on my site.

Home page
Feature page
Archive page
About Us page

Every month, I move the feature page (which includes new content for the month) to the archive section. By moving, I mean loading the page to my hardrive, renaming it and loading it back to my server in an archives folder. Then, I create new content for the month on the feature page. Up until recently, this has worked fine. However, now my pictures won't show up.

Sounds like until recently you were using a full url to link to images, such as http://www.etwireonline.com/images/image.jpg and now are using relative links like images/image.jpg. When you move a page with a simple relative link into another directory (archives) then the relative image links should be changed to ../images/image.jpg (so it looks back up the directory tree and then goes to the image directory from there) - or use full urls.

THANK YOU!!!!  Very Happy You are right. Recently, I did have to stop inserting pictures through the browse function (which will put the link in, if I click on each folder) because for some reason, the pictures would not go into the page that way. I had to "manuallly" type in the title of the picture, i.e. jean.jpg. That is when I began just using the short form or images/jean.jpg (for example). I guess that's when the problem started because I just typed in the full url for the image and it WORKED! Yahooooo!  Laughing

You have no idea how grateful I am to you right now. I've been having this problem for over a month now and nobody was able to help. Thank you very much.

Thanks Jenkinhill,

You are exactly correct.  Snippetmaster will try and use "relative" links.. so if you move the page to a different folder then you need to make sure your links are updated to use the proper "path" to the new folder location.
