[-] Need Help Please!!! I can't get it to work!
« on: September 10, 2002, 02:20:01 PM »

here's my problem - http://www.roundareway.co.uk/snippet/admin/index.php

here's my config file...

<?php

// This is the FULL path to the directory where the SnippetMaster program files
// are located.
// NOTE: If you put SnippetMaster in your "web root" directory, the $ROOT and
// $PATH settings will then be the same. DO NOT add a trailing slash.
$PATH = "d:/websites/roun491788/www/snippet/admin";

// This is the FULL path to the directory where your website files are
// located on your server (Your web root). DO NOT add a trailing slash.
$ROOT = "d:/websites/roun491788/www/";

// Set to the full url to access the value you set for $ROOT
$PREVIEW = "http://www.roundareway.co.uk";

// Set to the full url to access the value you set for $PATH.
$URL = "http://www.roundareway.co.uk/snippet/admin";

// Specify a list of folders to ignore when browsing for SnippetMaster files.
   $IGNORE = array("images","includes","cgi-bin","Templates");

// What kind of file types should be visible to the users when browsing for
// images using the WYSIWYG editor?  (The extensions you specify MUST be
// for an image filetype or you will get javascript errors.)
   $VALID_IMAGE_FILE_TYPES =  array("gif","jpg","jpeg","png");

// What kind of file types should be visible to the users when browsing for
// links using the WYSIWYG editor?
   $VALID_LINK_FILE_TYPES =  array("html","htm","doc","pdf","xls","ppt","txt","jpg","gif","png");

// Set to 1 to use authentication, otherwise set to 0.
// NOTE: If  you don't need password protection, set AUTH to 0.
   $AUTH = 1;
   $USER = "******";
   $PASS = "******";

// Set the email address to be used for error reporting.
// NOTE: (Must be set, even if $REPORT is set to 0)
   $EMAIL = "dykwim@roundareway.co.uk";

// To turn off SnippetMaster errors from appearing in your email inbox,
// set to 0.
   $REPORT = 1;

// What is the maximum size of an editable file in bytes?
   $MAXSIZE = 1000000;

// Set to 1 to enabling printing of WYSIWYG debug messages, otherwise
// set to 0
   $DEBUG = 0;

// You can specify an unlimited number of upload locations for your users. To
// add more locations, just follow the variable pattern.  (Be sure to increment
// the array number for each new location.)
// PATH - The _full_ path to the destination directory. (DO NOT add a trailing
//      slash.) This directory MUST already exist and have permissions of 777.
// NAME  - The text users will see in the Upload window for this location.
// OVERWRITE - For this location, allow files that already exist to be
//             overwritten? For yes, set to 1; for no, set to 0.
// If you don't want to use at least three locations, just delete the lines you
// don't need.  (They are for example only, anyway..)
   $UPLOAD_INFO[1][PATH] = "d:/websites/roun491788/www/images";
   $UPLOAD_INFO[1][NAME] = "Image Upload";
   $UPLOAD_INFO[1][OVERWRITE] = 1;
   $UPLOAD_INFO[2][PATH] = "d:/websites/roun491788/www/_private";
   $UPLOAD_INFO[2][NAME] = "File Upload";
   $UPLOAD_INFO[2][OVERWRITE] = 1;

// Do you want to limit the acceptable extensions of uploaded file types?
// To enable set to 1; to disable change to 0.
   $LIMIT_UPLOAD_FILE_TYPES = 0;

// If enabled, specify a list of acceptable file types for the upload function.
   $VALID_UPLOAD_FILE_TYPES =  array("gif","jpg","jpeg","png","pdf","zip");

// Do you want to set a size limit for uploaded files?
// To enable set to 1; to disable change to 0.
   $UPLOAD_FILE_SIZE_LIMIT = 0;

// If enabled, specify the size limit (in bytes) for uploaded files.
   $UPLOAD_FILE_MAX_SIZE = 200000;

?>

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?   I am on a windows server if that helps.  Thanks.

Since I haven't been able to get snippetmaster to work completely on my own site.....

I don't think you access the page
http://www.roundareway.co.uk/snippet/admin/index.php

but instead

http://www.roundareway.co.uk/snippet ( or whatever dir you have snippetmaster in.

If permissions are set properly on your dir's then the login page will open from the second url example above.

This might be what part of the problem is.  Rolling Eyes

Dykwim,

I'm just a newbie myself, but I'm guessing your Path and Root directories are incorrect.  If I'm interpretting the code correctly, you're sending people to their own D drive to find the login file.

If you check the Account Information from your Web Host Provider, after confirming your domain name, ftp info, etc; you'll probably have a section that shows your Perl Location, Sendmail Location and Path to Home Directory and Path to Document Root (it took me awhile to find this myself).

So your Path should be something more like:

$PATH = "/usr/local/psa/home/websites/roun491788/www/snippet/admin";

and your Root something akin to:

$ROOT = "/usr/local/psa/home/websites/roun491788/www"; (note also that there should be no trailing slash at the end of the root)

Note that your provider's directory structure is bound to be different from mine, so rely on your account information to replace what I've typed as /usr/local/psa/.

Then just be sure to change the permissions on the webpage your are editing with SnippetMaster (I always forget that part), and you should be good to go.

I hope this helps.  And someone please correct me if I'm wrong (with a minimum of flamage, por favor -- I did state I was a newbie right off the bat!).

Cheers!

EDIT -- Oops.  I think the d: directive may be correct when hosted on a windows server.  Sorry if my post is lame -- just had similar problems at first and now all is good.  Good luck! Embarassed

Unfortunately, I've never really tested SnippetMaster on Windows.. as a result I have no idea if it works or not.  I suspect some of the code will need to be tweaked to work properly, so maybe that's the problem your having.

If anyone can go through the code and make it compatible with Windows operating systems, that would be great!

Thanks guys, I think I'm stuck though, I don;t know how to rewrite the bits I need Sad .  It's a shame cos this script is EXACTLY what i've been looking for, you've done an excellent job electric, you should be v proud.

If anyone can help me out please het in touch because I'd really love to get this working, or is there an alternative program out there?  (I doubt it).

Thanks again.

From my testing so far, SnippetMaster definitely works as is, under WinNT4 SP6a with PHP 4.2.3 in ISAPI mode. The only modifications needed are the paths in config file need to include the physical drive, as is demonstrated in several  posts in this Board.
However, I have not done any extensive testing of the editor itself, as I need the known problems to be solved first (register_globals, empty lines and CSS compatibilty).

HTH,
