Error: Zend Optimizer not installed

When trying to access Snippet Master, I get the Error:

Zend Optimizer not installed

This file was encoded by the Zend Encoder / Zend SafeGuard Suite
In order to run it, please install the freely available Zend Optimizer, version 2.1.0 or later.

What is the Zend Optimizer?
The Zend Optimizer is one of the most popular PHP plugins for performance-improvement, and has been freely available since the early days of PHP 4. It improves performance by taking PHP's intermediate code through multiple Optimization Passes, which replace inefficient code patterns with efficient code blocks. The replacement code blocks perform exactly the same operations as the original code, only faster.

In addition to performance-improvement, the Zend Optimizer also enables PHP to transparently load files encoded by the Zend Encoder or Zend SafeGuard Suite.

The Zend Optimizer is a freely-available product from Zend Technologies. Zend Technologies is the company that develops the scripting engine of PHP, also known as the Zend Engine.


What can be done to fix this? 

I can't install this on the server.

Hello,

Can you try using the Ioncube version of SnippetMaster?  Most servers can run the 'runtime loaders" for Ioncube with no problem.  If you get stuck, you can always request a free installation request here:

And then I will do my best to get it working for you.

I have been using SnippetMaster since March of 2007 and this is the first time an error has happened.

Does the program need to be reinstalled because of this error, or could there be some other issue?

The problem is that your web hosting provider seems to have changed their server and removed the Zend Optimizer software.

Since it was working previously, you should contact them and ask (demand?) that they put back the Zend Optimizer so you can use your software that stopped working when they removed it.

(Or let me know if you want to switch to a better hosting provider that includes free Snippetmaster PRO rebrandable licenses and does not remove software from the servers without first informing their customers...)
