Hello,

I've recently been given the task of updating my company's webpage and, while I am finding it relatively easy, the question came up of: What is the maximum file size usable for an image?

We are looking to add pictures of our new management team members and the camera we have is very hi-res, which makes photos incredibly large. To make them small enough to put onto the website, I need to sacrifice quite a lot of image quality.

Can you recommend any programs to use to negate this, or let me know another way around this?

Thanks

Hello,

There is no limit to any file size within SnippetMaster... however your web server provider may have a limit within their server configuration/setup.

I don't recommend putting very large images on your website because it will take a long time for your website visitors to download.. and most likely they will simply click away and go somewhere else before it actually loads completely.  (ie: Only your employees will wait for it to load.. everyone else will think you don't know how to create a website and go away.)

There is a really simple program I use to "shrink" the size of images used on a website, without sacrifising email quality.  It is called "Microsoft PowerToys Image Resizer" and it works very well.   Here's a direct download link to the xp version on Microsoft's website, and here's a page to a "clone" version that works with Windows Vista/7.

If I can assist with anything just let me know.  Smile
