Ok  - have looked at the lite version .
The Lite version is supposed to  allow  1 " upload group"  -

but actually in practice I cannot even upload from my PC as an admin (get nag about upgrading )  so why say an upload group is available in LITE  if it can't be used  (unless  I  preupload  say usng a separate FTP client )?

Hello,

Sorry for the confusion -- let me explain:

http://www.snippetmaster.com/compare.html

The free LITE version does not allow uploading at all.  You can create a single upload group in the admin area, so that you can see how the settings work in the admin area.. but the users will not be able to actually upload files.

Sorry about that.. if you can suggest a better way to describe this limitation in the comparison page, let me know.   I'm always open to ideas that make Snippetmaster better, including the website.

Thanks!

Smile

Thanks for the prompt reply -  I did see the comparison page but it slightly confllicts  with what people might expect in use with a single upload group as an admin
it might be worth mentioning  in the admin page  as well as   elsewhere that the single created upload group is just for demo settings purposes as uploads are disabled in LITE

Good idea.  I will add this into the admin page for the LITE version so it's more clear.

Thanks!

Just another question. Am I correct  in assuming that users of PRO can also browse to and upload pictures directly  from their computers via the "insert image" option ?

Hello,

Using the "insert/modify image" utility in the editing toolbar will allow them to browse their website folders for images... but it will not allow them to upload. They mus click the "upload" link (if it is enabled for their user) to upload files.

Once the file is uploaded from their computer to the server, then they can browser for it using the modify/insert image button in the editing wiindow.

I hope that makes sense.

So all users and admins etc must browse to an existing url only  = they cannot browse to PC and upload  in the same action using the dialogue box indicated below (or  has it been disabled for LITE)?

Hello,

Yes, it is not possible to browse from the user's computer and insert into the editing window in one step.

To insert images into the editor that are located on the user's computer, it is a two-step process:

1. Click the "upload" link and upload the image into the desired upload folder location.

2. Click the "insert/modify image" link in the editor and browser to the upload folder to select the image.
