I'm considering SnippetMaster Pro for a concept I have for my boat building hobby site ... pages my readers can edit to show their own boat building project.  I want to have a "template" that matches the look of the rest of my site, and then assign users a specific page they can then use.  I want them to be able to edit text, upload pics, etc., but not change the "template" of the page.

It seems like SnippetMaster Pro would be ideal for that.  But I'd like to see some implementations before plunking down my cash (man, am I cheap!)  Is anyone out there doing something like this?

I'm also concerned about setting up the password protected directories.  Can SnippetMaster Pro handle multiple users?  Or do I have to make the folders password protected initially, and when the user is ready to "go live" unprotect it?

I worked on a site for a client who is using the LITE version. http://www.harveyklee.com ... However I doubt you'll be able to see anything that has to do with snippetmaster. He does edit his page very often though.

As for multiple users, as far as I know, it's not a feature yet. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere though that it's being worked on. Here is an idea, a big on, but an idea. Setup multiple copies of SM on your server under different dirs. Then each would have their own login and password. Not sure if this is possible with licenseing though! Should be possible for SM to do.

This is exactly what I recommend.

ie:

/home/user/www/snippetmaster1
/home/user/www/snippetmaster2
/home/user/www/snippetmaster3
/home/user/www/snippetmaster4

Each folder above would have its own completely separate installation of SnippetMaster.. so you could set up individual usernames/passwords, settings, etc...

No worries about licensing.. as long as they're all on the same hostname you will be fine.   Smile

The next version of SM will have multiple user functionality, multiple snippets per page, etc..  you will be able to specify users for each snippet..  but it will be another month or so until release.  Sign up for the mailing list to be notified of new releases as well as to know when I'm looking for beta testers.

Cheers!

Yes got one right Smile ... Anyway ... I'll be a beta tester if your looking for any. I'm sure the multiple user feature will be welcomed by many users.
